Mental Health therapy

Many studies have found that talk therapy, or psychotherapy, can help treat depression. Talk therapy can help you learn about your depression and help you find ways to manage your symptoms.

TALK THERAPY

At your first session, be prepared to tell your therapist about your depression and what led you to seek help. It may be helpful to think about what you’d like to get out of the therapy. For example, are you looking for ways to better deal with personal relationships, or are you hoping to set goals for yourself and make changes? It’s helpful to be as honest as you can with your therapist about your depression and your goals for therapy.

WHAT TO EXPECT

You may not feel better right away from talk therapy, but over time, you should start to notice some improvement. You might notice that relationships are getting easier or that your overall mood has improved. Or you might feel better able to understand your feelings or actions..

WHEN WILL I FEEL BETTER?

  • Dr. Shaniqua Jones

REGIONAL DIRECTOR + DIRECTOR OF CLINICAL EDUCATION

    Healing-Informed. People-Centered. Restorative by Design.

My leadership is grounded in the belief that healing must come before compliance, relationship must come before repair, and humanity must always come before policy. At Chicago Integrated Health, we practice a healing-informed model that honors the whole person—mind, body, spirit, and lived experience—while recognizing the impact of trauma, systemic inequities, and caregiving burdens on individuals and communities.

As Regional Director and Director of Clinical Education, I lead with Restorative Justice as both a framework and a way of being. This means cultivating safe and brave spaces, centering accountability without shame, and ensuring that every client, caregiver, and clinician is treated with dignity, empathy, and respect. Our work is not about fixing people—it is about restoring humanity, building social capital, and creating pathways for sustainable wellness and collective healing.
